AFRICAN ECONOMIC RESEARCH CONSORTIUM (AERC) PHD FELLOWSHIPS 2024/2025

Applications are now open for the 2024/2025 African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) PhD Fellowships. The African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) was established in 1988 as a public not-for-profit organization devoted to the advancement of economic policy research and training in Africa. The Consortium’s mandate and strategic intent is built on the basis that sustained development in sub-Saharan Africa requires well-trained, locally based professional economists. AERC agitates the provision of capacity building in economic policy in Francophone and Anglophone African countries through provision of support in the areas of policy research and graduate training.
AERC PhD Scholarship Announcement (2024/2025)
The African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) is offering PhD scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic year. These scholarships are open to applicants from Francophone and Anglophone sub-Saharan African countries who are interested in pursuing a PhD in Economics at one of the following universities participating in the AERC Collaborative PhD Programme (CPP):

Eligibility:
- You must be admitted to a PhD program in Economics at one of the listed CPP universities.
- You must hold a minimum of an upper second-class honors degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field from an accredited university.
- You must have a Master’s degree (with coursework and thesis) in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field from a recognized university. Your coursework should cover microeconomics, macroeconomics, quantitative methods, and econometrics.
- Having at least one published research paper in a refereed journal is a benefit to your application.
- Experience in economic management, research, or training in the public sector is a benefit to your application.
- Female applicants and those from post-conflict or fragile states are especially encouraged to apply.
How to Apply:
- Apply for admission directly to your chosen CPP university following their application procedures (available on their website).
- Once you receive an admission letter from your chosen university, upload the following documents to the AERC scholarship portal:
- Application cover letter
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Proof of admission from your chosen CPP university
- Certified copies of your academic transcripts and certificates
