WFSA PAEDIATRIC ANAESTHESIA TRAINING IN AFRICA (PATA) FELLOWSHIP 2024/2025, ABUJA, NIGERIA

Applications are now open for the 2024/2025 WFSA Paediatric Anaesthesia Training in Africa (PATA) Fellowship.

The Paediatric Anaesthesia Training in Africa (PATA) Fellowship, Abuja, Nigeria is offering two 12-month paediatric anaesthesia fellowship positions starting September 2024. Fellows will work at the Department of Anaesthesia at National Hospital Abuja. Teaching will be provided by local faculty and visiting specialists.

PATA is locally led and supported by the WFSA, the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists and experienced partners from the global surgery and anaesthesia space including Smile Train and the Vanderbilt University Medical Centre.

Criteria for Applicants:

– Applicants must be licensed and practicing medical professionals in their native country.
– Completion of residency training in Anaesthesia is required.
– Demonstrated enthusiasm for pediatric anesthesia and teaching is essential.
– Endorsement from their national anesthesiology society, which must be a member of the WFSA, is mandatory.
– Support from their department head or hospital administration is required.
– Intention to return to their home country for a recognized position is necessary.
– Preferably employed in a teaching hospital.

Required Application Documents

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s national anaesthesiology society
  • Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s head of department or hospital management
  • Copy of medical degree
  • Copy of specialist anaesthesiology qualification
  • Certificate of registration with the medical board or council of the participant’s country
  • Current practicing licence from the medical board or council of the participant’s country
  • Copy of photograph page of passport

Eligible candidates will be interviewed for the position.

Successful applicants will be informed by 1 June 2024 via email.

Successful applicants must confirm their intention to take up the scholarship within 3 days of notification. Failure to do so will result in the scholarship being offered to the next applicant.
