Applications are now open for the 2024 Canon Student Development Programme. Boost your career and take the next step to becoming a pro photographer with the Canon Student Development Programme. The programme offers aspiring photographers from across Europe, Middle East and Africa an incredible opportunity to meet leading industry experts and have their portfolio professionally assessed.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be 18 years or older as of March 7, 2024.
- Must reside in the EMEA region.
- Must have either commenced or completed an educational course or internship with an agency or magazine during the academic year 2023-2024; or be nominated/endorsed by a professional from the photographic industry.
Benefits:
- Mentorships: Up to 100 selected applicants, chosen by editors from prominent media agencies such as AFP, EPA, Getty Images, and Reuters, will receive personalized mentorship sessions.
- Exclusive Workshop: The top 25 students will be invited to a career-defining 4-day workshop in Girona, Spain.
- Visa pour l’Image: Following the workshop, students will attend Visa pour l’Image, the esteemed international festival of photojournalism in Perpignan, France.
- Prestigious Prizes: Three students will be granted a €2k grant and Canon equipment to develop a new project.
Selection Criteria:
- Participants will be chosen by a panel consisting of Canon representatives and external industry professionals from leading media agencies including AFP, EPA, Getty Images, and Reuters.
- Submissions will be evaluated based on narrative skill, authenticity, storyline, bio, and overall quality of the portfolio and project proposal.
How to Apply:
To apply, applicants must be at least 18 years old on March 7, 2024, and either be a student, intern, or have completed their course during the 2023-24 academic year. A limited number of spots are reserved for industry-nominated participants, regardless of their educational status. Although the program is open to individuals across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, proficiency in English is necessary for participation.
