MICROSOFT IMAGINE CUP JUNIOR 2024: A GLOBAL CHALLENGE FOR STUDENTS

Application Deadline: May 8, 2024 23:59 (GMT+0).

Applications are now open for the 2024 Microsoft Imagine Cup Junior.

Now in its fifth year, Imagine Cup Junior is an exciting opportunity for students aged 5-18 years old to learn about technology and how it can be used to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges, while participating in a global student challenge. It’s a great introduction to technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and cybersecurity, and is suitable for all levels, especially beginners.

Microsoft is thrilled to introduce a new age category this year, catering to students aged 5-12 years old! In this age group, students will focus on Technology for Good, with specially designed lessons tailored for early learners. The newly crafted teaching materials will assist educators in providing this opportunity to their students. Additionally, Microsoft is pleased to announce the inclusion of a lesson on Generative AI for the Imagine Cup Junior’s AI for Good competition, targeting students aged 13-18 years old.

Selection Criteria:

  • Students will work in teams comprising two (2) to six (6) members for the AI for Good category and teams of two (2) to forty (40) for the Tech for Good category. They will develop an original concept addressing Microsoft’s AI for Good and Tech for Good initiatives and complete the Imagine Cup Junior PowerPoint submission template.
  • Team Leaders will have access to hackathon materials to conduct a hackathon in their classroom, facilitating a deeper understanding of best practices for running Imagine Cup Junior and providing additional learning opportunities for students.

We eagerly anticipate the innovative ideas students will submit! The top 10 global submission winners will be revealed on June 13, 2024, through the Microsoft Education blog.
