2024/2025 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATE EAST AFRICAN STUDENTS AT KYUNG DONG UNIVERSITY, SOUTH KOREA, OFFERED BY IUCEA-KDU
The announcement for the IUCEA-KDU Undergraduate Scholarships is open. It’s an invitation for applications from East African students who wish to pursue undergraduate studies at Kyungdong University in South Korea starting September 2024. The scholarship is available for Bachelor’s degrees in Smart Computing, Hotel Management, and Business Administration.
The deadline for applications is April 28, 2024.
Eligible countries include Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
These scholarships are to be taken in South Korea.
The fields of study covered by the scholarship are Bachelor’s degrees in Smart Computing, Hotel Management, and Business Administration.
These are undergraduate scholarships.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship and residency in any East African Community Partner State (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda).
- Completion of pre-university education with outstanding results.
- Completion of pre-university education in the home country in 2022 or 2023.
- Proficiency in Mathematics and English, with minimum grades of B.
- Proficiency in English for non-native speakers (IELTS 5.5 or IBT 71).
- Age not exceeding 22 years. Selection criteria will be based on applicant performance and available slots per Partner State.
There are up to 30 scholarships available annually for the next 5 years.
The scholarship covers:
- Full tuition fees of $10,000 per year for up to 4 years (provided by KDU Global).
- On-campus accommodation fees of $1,600 per year for up to 4 years (provided by KDU Global).
- Return air tickets at the beginning and end of every two years (provided by IUCEA).
- Health insurance support every month for 4 years (provided by IUCEA).
- Application processing and handling fee of $200 after selection (provided by IUCEA).
- Subsistence expenses estimated to be around $250 per month (to be covered by students and their guardians/sponsors).
The application process includes a two-stage selection process:
- Stage I: Preliminary selection by IUCEA. Applicants must submit required documents to the IUCEA Office in Kampala, Uganda.

- Statement of Interest to the Executive Secretary of IUCEA
- Upload required documents;
- Recent passport photograph in colour with a clear shot of face and upper shoulders
- Comprehensive curriculum vitae (CV) including names and contacts of two references.
- Two letters of reference (the same referees as in CV, one of the referees should be the Head of the Institution where the student completed his/her secondary school).
- Certified copies of national pre-university certificates and transcripts (Provisional Results will only be temporarily acceptable if endorsed by the Issuing National Agency).
- Evidence of citizenship and residency of a Partner State in the East African Community: passport/ National ID and residency attest is required.
All documents must be combined into one PDF file and submitted to IUCEA by April 28, 2024.
Stage II: KDU Global will conduct individual assessments and confirm the final selections. Candidates might be required to submit additional documents and designated forms if deemed necessary.
Final selection notices will be sent out to the successful candidates only by June 15, 2024.
VI. KDU Global Admission
Scholarship recipients may be required to submit other additional documents for final admission to KDU Global upon receiving guidelines.
