Applications are now open for the 2024/2025 Generation Google EMEA Scholarships for women in computer science & gaming.
The Generation Google Scholarship for women in computer science aims to assist students pursuing computer science degrees in excelling in technology and emerging as leaders in the field. Successful candidates will receive a 7,000 EUR award (or local equivalent) for the 2024-2025 academic year. Scholarships will be granted based on each candidate’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrated leadership, and academic performance. The program welcomes students who meet all minimum qualifications.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelors program at an accredited university or college for the 2023-2024 academic year
- Intending to enroll in or accepted as a full-time student in a Bachelors program at an accredited university in Europe, Middle East, or Africa for the 2024-2025 academic year
- Studying computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Demonstrating a strong academic record
- Exemplifying leadership and showing passion for enhancing representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology
Application Process: Applicants will complete an online application including:
- General background information
- Resume/CV
- Academic transcripts from the current institution
- Responses to short answer essay questions
Essay Questions: Candidates must respond to two short answer essay questions, each within 500 words:
- Describe a time when you encountered a complex problem with no clear solution path. Detail the steps you took to reach a solution, including the resources and solutions considered, and the lessons learned.
- Based on personal experience, discuss a barrier hindering equitable access to the technology field. Identify the root cause and describe actions taken to address this inequity, focusing primarily on your own efforts.
