AMANDLA EASTERN & SOUTHERN AFRICA FELLOWSHIP 2024, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
The Amandla Eastern & Southern Africa Fellowship 2024, located in Johannesburg, South Africa, is available to 50 students from across Africa. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to engaging in peaceful and dynamic dialogues to explore and nurture inner peace, as well as contribute to global peace. The fellowship spans four days and provides opportunities to develop and sustain a fulfilling personal and professional life through the cultivation of inner peace, positive habits, self-discipline, mindful practices, and meditation. Additionally, it aims to foster connections among peacebuilders to facilitate the exchange of experiences and visions for fostering partnerships in intercultural dialogue.
Course Offerings: Peace Revolution offers fellowships to South African students aimed at fostering inner peace and global peace. There are 50 fellowships available.
Level of Study: The Foundation offers a 21-day training program to improve conflict prevention and nonviolent conflict resolution skills, address fear and terrorism, manage stress, practice nonviolent communication, cultivate self-discipline, uphold human rights, enhance leadership, and promote the pillars of a stable and peaceful society.
Value of Award: Selected candidates will receive benefits such as full or partial sponsorship for airfare, free accommodation, free catering, and local transportation to and from the retreat center.
Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be African nationals residing in Eastern and Southern Africa, aged between 20-32 years old. They should have completed 21 days of the 42-day online self-development program, possess proficiency in English, demonstrate optimism and open-mindedness, exhibit leadership potential, and display a genuine interest in peacebuilding. Candidates must also commit to participating in all program activities during the fellowship.
Target Group: Eligible applicants must hail from Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Djibouti, Comoros, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Malawi, Mozambique, Sudan, South Sudan, Botswana, Seychelles, Lesotho, Madagascar, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mayotte, or Mauritius.
Application Procedure: All applicants must submit a recommendation letter from their respective organizations or institutions. They are also required to pay a commitment fee of $100 USD (or $50 USD for local participants) before arriving at the retreat site, via bank transfer or Western Union. Following the completion of the 21-day self-development program, the Peace Revolution selection committee will schedule interviews based on candidates’ performance, available funds, and group dynamics for each fellowship. There is no need to request an interview separately. Fellowships are awarded for a four-day period.
