The Welcome Trust Discovery Awards provide funding for established researchers and teams from any discipline seeking to pursue innovative and imaginative research ideas aimed at achieving significant breakthroughs in understanding that could enhance human life, health, and well-being. The research may focus on a single discipline or encompass multidisciplinary approaches. The host organization of the lead applicant should be located in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- or middle-income countries (excluding India and mainland China). A Wellcome Discovery Award covers research expenses, and the duration of the award typically spans 8 years.
