Paul Evan Peters Scholarship in USA

The Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the prestigious Paul Evan Peters Scholarship. Established to honor the memory of Paul Evan Peters, the founding executive director of CNI, this scholarship aims to support graduate students who are passionate about advancing the frontiers of digital information and technology in the fields of information sciences, librarianship, and related disciplines.

Applicants for the Paul Evan Peters Scholarship must hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and be either entering or currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program within information science or librarianship at an accredited U.S. institution. Alternatively, eligibility extends to programs recognized by the American Library Association (ALA) or those affiliated with the iSchools iCaucus. Candidates from related disciplines are also welcome, given their course of study aligns closely with information management/studies.The Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) is dedicated to supporting the transformative promise of digital information technology for the advancement of scholarly communication and the enrichment of intellectual productivity.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: United States
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Information science, librarianship, or closely related fields
  • Admissible Criteria:
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Must be entering or enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in information science or librarianship at an accredited U.S. university, or a program with ALA accreditation or membership in the iSchools iCaucus.
  • Other closely related disciplines may be considered if directly related to information management/studies.

To be considered complete, applications must include:

  • A 300–500-word essay explaining how the applicant’s qualifications, intellectual interests, and academic and career objectives relate to the scholarship criteria. The essay must include a discussion of how the applicant will advance scholarship in digital information and technology and apply his or her knowledge to problems of scholarship, intellectual productivity, or public life.
  • A curriculum vitae or resume that includes the applicant’s contact information, including phone number and email address.
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can directly address the applicant’s academic and personal qualifications for the scholarship (e.g. faculty members, work supervisors, or others). Letters that specifically address how the candidate fulfills the award criteria will be given the highest consideration.
