MONIEPOINT BOSS HINTS ON MORE INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS TO BRIDGE FINANCIAL INCLUSION GAP
Given the pivotal importance of financial inclusion in national development and the establishment of a sustainable economy, Tosin Eniolorunda, Group CEO of Moniepoint Inc, has reaffirmed his organization’s commitment to enhancing financial inclusion and promoting the adoption of technology among underserved consumers in the country.
Speaking at the 16th edition of the Leadership Newspapers Conference and Awards, where Moniepoint Inc was honored as the Fintech Company of the Year, Eniolorunda highlighted the significant strides made by the company over the past decade.
The event, held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Leadership Group. The selection of award recipients followed a rigorous review of their contributions to Nigeria’s growth and development, as outlined by the late Sam Nda-Isaiah, the founding chairman of the LEADERSHIP Newspaper Group.
The esteemed Fintech Company of the Year award acknowledges Moniepoint’s innovative initiatives aimed at expanding access to financial services for underserved and unbanked populations across Nigeria. Through its extensive network of point-of-sale terminals and digital payments platform, Moniepoint has empowered millions of Nigerians, including small traders and roadside businesses, to participate in the digital economy.

During the anniversary celebration, founder Charles Edosomwan expressed gratitude to past and present staff for their unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence, even amidst challenges. He emphasized the company’s remarkable journey over the past decade and expressed optimism for the future, where Moniepoint will continue pushing boundaries to empower Nigerians and drive economic growth.
In her address, Zainab Nda-Isaiah, Chairman of Leadership Newspapers, underscored the role of the awards in recognizing individuals and organizations making significant contributions towards building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous nation. She paid tribute to the legacy of her late husband, Sam Nda-Isaiah, and highlighted the importance of honoring those who demonstrate excellence in their respective fields.
Keynote speaker Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, addressing the theme “An Economy In Distress: Which Way Forward?”, emphasized the urgency of addressing economic challenges and called for strategic solutions to drive growth and prosperity. Notable personalities present at the event included Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi, representing Person of the Year awardee President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, recipient of the Politician of the Year award; and several state governors.
In 2023, Moniepoint MFB received the prestigious Rising Star Family Business Award PwC/Businessday Family Business Summit, and Moniepoint Inc was listed among the 100 most promising private fintech companies by CB Insights for the second consecutive year. Additionally, the Financial Times recognized it as Africa’s second-fastest-growing company.
