The IHE Delft MENA and Horn of Africa, Sahel, & SIDS Scholarships serve as a framework for capacity building for water professionals from specific regions/countries. These scholarships cover the entire cost of the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development, including tuition fees, insurance, international travel expenses, and a monthly allowance of EURO 1,115 for living expenses and accommodation throughout the study period.
IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, formerly UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, is the world’s largest international graduate water education facility, situated in Delft, Netherlands. Delft is renowned as a hub of knowledge on water infrastructure, technology, and sciences, attracting top-tier students and scientists globally. IHE Delft collaborates closely with Delft, known as the water knowledge city, and other water-related institutes based there.
The scholarship is open to nationals from specific countries within the MENA and Horn of Africa regions, the Sahel, and Small Island Development States. Eligibility requires academic admission to the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development. Priority is given to female candidates, and applicants must demonstrate strong motivation by answering five motivation questions in their online application.
To apply for the scholarship, eligible candidates do not need to complete a separate application form. Instead, they are automatically considered for the scholarship after applying for admission and receiving their academic admission letter. It’s advised for interested candidates from eligible countries to apply for admission as soon as possible. Additionally, proficiency in English is crucial, and applicants should sign up for an English language test if required, as it is a prerequisite for final admission and scholarship eligibility. Failure to submit sufficient English test results before May 15, 2023, will result in ineligibility for the scholarship.
Important deadlines include:
- May 15, 2023: Application deadline for admission and scholarship
- July 1, 2023: Announcement of scholarship selection outcome
