THE NCAA PROHIBITS OWNERS OF PRIVATE JETS FROM UTILIZING COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has given a strong caution to owners of private jets regarding the unauthorized utilization of their planes for commercial activities, indicating that those who breach this regulation will encounter significant consequences.

This instruction was conveyed via an announcement from Michael Achimugu, the director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, and was released on the Authority’s official social media account.

The statement specifies that private jet owners, who hold a Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF), are strictly forbidden from using their aircraft for transporting passengers, cargo, or mail in exchange for compensation or hire.

The NCAA highlighted that any private jet owner engaging in commercial operations or charter services would confront severe consequences, such as the suspension, withdrawal, or revocation of their permit, in accordance with Section 32 (4) of the Civil Aviation Act 2022.

Furthermore, the NCAA has increased its surveillance efforts by deploying officials to General Aviation Terminals (GAT) and private airport sections to monitor the activities of private jet owners and ensure compliance with aviation regulations.

“The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) advises holders of Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF) (private jet owners) to cease engaging in commercial flight operations immediately or face significant penalties.

“It is important to note that PNCF holders are not authorized to use their aircraft for transporting passengers, cargo, or mail in exchange for compensation or reward (commercial operations or charter services).

“In accordance with Section 32 (4) of the Civil Aviation Act 2022, the NCAA will take enforcement actions against any PNCF holder found guilty of illegal operations, including suspension, withdrawal, or revocation of their Permit for Non-Commercial Flight.

“The public is hereby informed that it is unlawful to enlist PNCF holders for commercial purposes. NCAA officials have been deployed to General Aviation Terminals (GAT) and private airport sections to oversee the activities of PNCF holders.

“The NCAA reiterates its firm stance against violations of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 and will continue to enforce strict compliance by imposing appropriate sanctions.” he concluded.
