WRITERS IN RESIDENCE AT HEDGEBROOK
The Writers in Residence Program constitutes Hedgebrook’s fundamental initiative, facilitating fully-funded residencies for approximately 80 writers annually at the retreat. Located on Whidbey Island, approximately thirty-five miles northwest of Seattle, Hedgebrook occupies 48 acres of forest and meadow overlooking Puget Sound with a breathtaking view of Mount Rainier. The retreat warmly welcomes writers from around the globe for residencies lasting two to four weeks, with no financial burden on the writer. This residency opportunity is accessible to women writers across all genres. At any given time, four writers inhabit the retreat, each accommodated in a meticulously crafted cottage.
