TINUBU IN QATAR: SEE WHAT HE TOLD INVESTORS
President Bola Tinubu has reiterated to the international business community that Nigeria is prepared for significant business engagements. He specifically urged international investors, particularly those from Qatar, to report any government officials soliciting bribes from them.
Speaking at the Nigeria-Qatar Business and Investment Forum in Doha, President Tinubu assured Qatari investors that Nigeria’s largest economy and its systems are undergoing reforms and upgrades. He encouraged them to report any government official demanding a bribe or any form of inducement, ensuring direct access to the President’s Office.
Tinubu emphasized that reforms are underway, and past challenges should be disregarded. He urged investors not to offer bribes and assured them of a corruption-free business environment. Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to revolutionizing investment promotion and removing obstacles for smoother business operations.
He acknowledged the strengthened efforts against corruption and insecurity in Nigeria, especially with the appointment of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, as National Security Adviser.
Tinubu welcomed Qatar’s interest in exploring opportunities in Nigeria, emphasizing the country’s potential in various sectors, including oil and gas, solid minerals, tourism, hospitality, healthcare, and more.
The President, accompanied by several government officials, addressed the forum, expressing Nigeria’s openness to business and assuring the safety of investments.
Notable attendees included Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum; Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani; Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among others. The meeting discussed joint objectives, cooperation in sectors like low-carbon initiatives, mineral products, petroleum chemicals, industry, and consumables.
The Nigerian delegation aimed to foster strong economic ties and encourage Qatari investments in Nigeria. The President emphasized the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships and welcomed Qatari investors to explore the golden opportunities Nigeria presents.
