NITDA SUPPORTS JIGAWA GOVERNMENT’S DIGITAL LITERACY MOVES
Kashifu Inuwa, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), urged youths in Jigawa State to embrace Information Communication Technology skills due to its strategic importance for driving the nation’s digital economy.
In Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, NITDA’s boss made this call during the flag-off of a capacity-building training program sponsored by the state government for 1000 youths.
The training, organized through collaboration between the Jigawa State government, NITDA, Base University, and IDEAS, is part of the state’s efforts to explore more economic opportunities for accelerated development.
Advising the youth to embrace ICT skills for sustainable development and self-reliance, the NITDA Director General emphasized the shift from paper qualifications to skills in the modern world. He stated that the training would enable Jigawa State to regain its position as a leading state in the ICT sector.
NITDA will continue to partner with state governments across the country to expand digital literacy, aiming for citizens’ inclusivity to propel the national digital economy and address poverty-related challenges.
Governor Umar Namadi, represented by the state’s Deputy Governor Aminu Usman Gumel, commended NITDA for its intervention programs in the state. The Director General of Jigawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment and Employment, Dr. Habibu Ubale, and representatives from collaborating organizations also emphasized that providing ICT skills to youths would enhance sustainable economic development.
The training, focused on areas such as Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Software development, aims to produce young talents leading digital development in the state and the country.
