The Ekiti State government has initiated an inquiry into reported instances of attacks on doctors and other healthcare workers at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, stated in a release yesterday that swift action had been taken in response to assaults on doctors and other health workers while attending to patients. He assured members of staff and the general public that some suspects in the recent incidents at the hospital had been arrested and charged to court, and security measures had been implemented within the hospital premises.

Dr. Filani also mentioned that the state government would address the issue of poor work ethics among the hospital staff. He acknowledged the concerns raised by patients about the challenges they face in accessing health services at EKSUTH and stated that the government is investigating these issues to streamline and improve service delivery.
