FMSH/UNIMED SHORT-TERM FELLOWSHIPS FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS FROM SOUTH MEDITERRANEAN

The Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme (FMSH) and the Mediterranean Universities Union  (UNIMED)  offer short-term fellowships of 2 or 3 months in France for young researchers native from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Syria and affiliated to one of the 164 Universities member of UNIMED.(Opportunities for Africa)

 

This research stay is designed to enable researchers to conduct research studies in France: field enquiries, library and archives work.

This call is part of the Atlas short-term postdoctoral mobility programme offered by the FMSH and its partners.

Eligibility criteria

  • Nationality: this program is open to researchers originating from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Marocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Syria and affiliated to one of the 164 Universities member of UNIMED. (Opportunities for Africa)

Educational Degree:

Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. doctorate and defended their thesis from 2018. There is no age limit. Theme: Applicants should be engaged in research in social sciences and humanities (SSH) or at the intersection between SSH and other sciences. Language: French or English, depending on the project. French Host Institution: Before submitting their application, applicants need to secure a French research institution to host them during their fellowship. Applicants must provide a letter from the hosting institution addressed to the FMSH and the UNIMED, expressing the institution’s willingness to host the applicant and outlining the work conditions offered.

Benefits:

Laureates will receive financial support of €1,700 per month. This financial contribution is intended to cover expenses such as transport and accommodation costs. FMSH provides scientific and logistical assistance, including working space, help in finding accommodation, and support for accessing libraries. Researcher’s Obligations:

At the end of their stay, laureates must submit a report of 10,000 to 20,000 characters (including spaces and notes) to the FMSH and the UNIMED. The report should present the work conducted during their fellowship and the benefits for their research project.

Application procedure

Applicants will be required to submit an online application form and a scientific dossier (research project + appendices). The online application form will be available on the FMSH website as of January 15, 2024. Completed proposals can be uploaded to the application portal at any time before the application deadline of March 18, 2024, 17:00 (Paris time).

Online application and scientific dossier must be submitted in French or in English.
