UNIVERSITY OF BONN SDG FELLOWSHIPS 2024 FOR SCHOLARS RESEARCHING THE UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS) (FUNDED)

Applications are now open for the 2024 University of Bonn SDG Fellowships.

The University of Bonn invites scholars, preferably from Africa, Latin America, and South/East Asia, for research on topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for periods of 3–12 months. Through this fellowship program, tenured faculty members at the University of Bonn can collaborate with international postdoctoral fellows on joint research projects aligned with the SDGs outlined in the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

Eligibility Requirements:

Post-doctoral researchers (with foreign citizenship) invited by a University of Bonn professor for a joint research project. The fellow should have a long-term affiliation at a university or research institute in the specified regions, demonstrating proven expertise in an area of research within the thematic spectrum of the SDGs. The International Office cannot facilitate contact between interested fellows and faculty at the University of Bonn.

Funding:

The funding can cover the following:

  • A travel allowance (depending on the country of origin).
  • A scholarship of €3,000 per month (with additional funds for family members: up to €300 for a spouse and €250 per child).
  • A research expense allowance of up to €500 per month.
  • Insurance benefits are not included in the scholarship.

Note: The International Office cannot provide housing for scholarship recipients. The funding is for a period of at least 3 and not more than 12 months.

Submission Requirements:

The application must be submitted by a full-time professor at the University of Bonn together with the fellow. The International Office cannot facilitate contact between interested fellows and faculty at the University of Bonn.

    • Abstract of the proposed project (up to 250 words).
    • Outline of the research project during the fellow’s stay in Bonn.
    • Reasons for the fellow’s invitation and their contribution to research and teaching at the University of Bonn.
    • Overview of the collaboration between the applicant and the fellow.
    • Outline of the integration of the fellow into the host institute.
    • Outline of follow-on value, including plans for the outcome of the stay and future collaboration.
