“FCT-IRS INTRODUCES E-PORTAL TO FACILITATE TAX SERVICES AND ADMINISTRATION”
The Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) has introduced a user-friendly electronic portal to enhance the quality of tax services and streamline tax administration in the territory.
Mr. Haruna Abdullahi, the Acting Executive Chairman of the service, highlighted that the platform aims to bring together convenience, transparency, and accountability in tax administration. Represented by Mrs. Chinwe Ndu, Acting Director of the Tax Department, Abdullahi explained that the platform encompasses IRS collection, receipting, assessment, and Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC).
He emphasized that this initiative marks a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to revolutionize revenue management and collection. The e-portal leverages technology to facilitate seamless interaction between taxpayers and tax administrators, promoting transparency and user-friendly experiences.
During the unveiling, Mr. James Olukotun, Acting Director of ICT, clarified that the portal is a cloud-based application catering to tax-related processes such as collection, receipt, assessment, TCC management, return filing, registration, reporting, and other revenue management services.
Additionally, Mr. Kumaiin Ikya, Deputy Director of the Land Administration Department at FCT Administration, acknowledged existing gaps in revenue generation and collection. The e-portal dashboard displayed real-time data, revealing that FCT-IRS collected N1.6 billion within the week and N1.9 billion in March. The cumulative collection for 2024 stood at 25.5 billion, with an average daily collection of N23.3 million. The portal also indicated a total of 1.5 million taxpayers in its tax net, including 392,737 corporate taxpayers and 1.1 million individuals.
