The GOI-IES program is designed to support high-caliber international students pursuing master’s or PhD studies in Ireland. This initiative is a collaboration between the Government of Ireland, Irish higher education institutions, and is administered by the Higher Education Authority. Annually, 60 scholarships are granted for one year of full-time study at master’s or PhD level. The program is open to applicants across various fields of study.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Domicile: Applicants must have a domicile of origin outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland/United Kingdom.
  2. Admission: Candidates must apply for admission to a relevant master’s or PhD program offered by an eligible higher education institution, following the institution’s admission procedures.
  3. Offer of Admission: Applicants must possess a conditional or final offer of admission to the higher education institution at the time of application. The offer letter should confirm their place as an international fee-paying student.
  4. Exclusion: Russian and Belarussian nationals are not eligible to apply due to the ongoing conflict.

Benefits

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship provides a stipend of €10,000 for one year of full-time master’s or PhD study. Host institutions must grant a full fee waiver to the scholarship recipients for the scholarship year. Successful scholars are expected to start their studies in either September or October 2024.
