2024 POP-KULTUR GOETHE TALENTS SCHOLARSHIP FOR MUSIC PROFESSIONALS (FULLY FUNDED TO BERLIN, GERMANY)

Applications are now open for the Goethe Institut Talents Scholarship. The Goethe Talents Scholarship is a 12-day programme to support and connect young, aspiring musical artists including singer-songwriters and composers. The scholarship is a cooperation between the Goethe-Institut and »Pop-Kultur« and will celebrate its 10 years cooperation anniversary in 2024.

Requirements: The scholarship is aimed at musicians between approximately 20 and 30 years of age who have gained some experience in the field of music and have a solid grasp of the English language.

  • Are you a young musician, composer, singer-songwriter, and/or instrumentalist between approximately 20 and 30 years of age?
  • Do you play an instrument of any kind (from Oud to Drums) and any musical genre?
  • Are you from a transitioning or so-called developing country?
  • Do you want to use your musical talent more target-oriented?
  • Do you want to share your experiences in playing music in a group?
  • Do you want to work professionally in the music field and industry and extend your networks?

Programme Details: The programme offers a variety of activities to experience the “music city” Berlin before the actual Festival. This includes studio visits, intensive group jam-sessions, short traineeships in selected companies from Berlin’s creative industries, listening sessions, and meetings with scholarship holders of the Musicboard Berlin GmbH, as well as other activities.

Highlights of the promotion and exchange programme include participation in “Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs,” the official talent programme of the festival, intensive studio collaborations of all Goethe Talents 2024 participants, and experiencing the full programme of “Pop-Kultur” Live.

Furthermore, participants will join the Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs programme taking place on August 28th – 30th at Kulturbrauerei Berlin. International professionals will give personal insights into their work and share their knowledge through studio visits, workshops, case studies, and talks with participants – lively and interactive instead of dry and read off.

Benefits:

  • The participation fee, accommodation, travel expenses, hospitality (per diem) for the period of August 22nd to September 2nd, 2024, will be covered by Goethe-Institut.
  • Goethe-Institut will also book and pay for flights and assist with visa appointments.
  • Additionally, Musicboard Berlin will give a free Festival Ticket plus access to Pop-Kultur’s networking area for professionals to all talents, organize accommodation (breakfast included), cover health insurance, and public transportation within Berlin.
