THE CHEVENING CLORE LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP 2024/2025 FOR MID-CAREER PROFESSIONALS (FULLY FUNDED TO THE UNITED KINGDOM)

Applications are now open for the 2024/2025 Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship.

The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship, a collaboration between the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and Clore Leadership, presents a unique opportunity for mid-career professionals in the arts and culture sector. This fellowship offers an individually tailored leadership program in the UK, providing funding for up to five international fellows. These fellows become part of a cohort alongside approximately 20 fellows from the UK and around the world on the Clore Leadership Fellowship Programme. This program has successfully shaped exceptional cultural leaders for the past 16 years.

The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship is a customized leadership development initiative aimed at enriching and transforming cultural practice and engagement by nurturing leadership potential, acumen, and skills.

This fellowship brings together creative and dynamic cultural leaders from the UK and internationally for an intense personal and professional learning experience. It is designed to support individuals in realizing their leadership potential through in-depth learning tailored to their unique needs, aspirations, and circumstances.

The fellowship, running from September 2024 to May 2025, follows a flexible framework designed to boost the development of outstanding cultural leaders at a pivotal point in their careers. It is adaptive and self-guided, requiring high motivation and deep curiosity.

The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship is a learned, not taught, program. It is experiential, grounded in practice, and underpinned by contemporary leadership theories and approaches.

Eligibility: Applications are invited from individuals from the following countries:

  • Brazil
  • China
  • Egypt
  • India
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Mexico
  • South Africa

To be eligible for a Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship, applicants must:

  • Intend to return to the country they were selected from at the end of the period of study
  • Hold a degree equivalent to at least a good UK second-class honours degree or have equivalent professional training and/or experience
  • Have completed at least five years of work or equivalent experience by the end of 2023
  • Meet the minimum requirements according to the main fellowship scheme
  • Have a good working knowledge of English, assessed in the application form and during the interview
  • Not hold British or dual British citizenship
  • Not be an employee, former employee, or relative* of an employee of His Majesty’s Government, or have been within the last two years from the opening of Chevening applications
  • Note: Immediate relatives are defined as parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouse, civil partner, or unmarried couples in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years.

Benefits: A Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship includes a set training budget covering:

  • Up to two return economy flights from the home country to the UK for fellowship activities
  • Accommodation in the UK
  • Living expenses in the UK
  • A period of secondment for approximately 4-6 weeks at a UK-based cultural institution
  • Individually tailored fellowship learning plan, including participation in courses, conferences, and other professional development activities in the UK
  • Course and conference fees within the UK
  • Training and development costs within the UK
  • Travel within the UK

Programme Structure: As part of the Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship, each international fellow will undertake an individually tailored program based in the UK. This includes:

  • Two residential leadership courses in September 2024 and May 2025
  • Three day-long non-residential skills-based workshops
  • A one-day ‘Online Climate Assembly’
  • A 360° leadership profile
  • A secondment in a UK-based cultural organization, usually in a field different from the fellow’s usual workplace or practice
  • Bespoke learning opportunities through conferences, courses, study visits, and peer/sector networking
  • Focused support from a mentor or coach
  • Thought leadership exploration through a written provocation paper.
