The 2023 Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership Award has been bestowed upon Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank, as announced by the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation. Ambassador Dr. Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, the Executive Director of the foundation, conveyed that Dr. Adesina emerged as the winner through a meticulous selection process conducted by a panel of distinguished Nigerians.

Dosumu disclosed that the formal presentation of the award, comprising a plaque, medal, and certificate, is scheduled to take place at a ceremony expected to attract a diverse assembly of notable figures from Nigeria and around the globe.

The statement further outlined that Dr. Adesina, as the recipient of the 2023 Leadership Prize, will deliver a lecture during the ceremony. The event will feature special performances, musical celebrations, goodwill messages, and video documentaries highlighting Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

The presence of former Head of State and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation, General Yakubu Gowon, and Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Chairman of the eminent Selection Committee, is anticipated at the occasion.
