The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has requested Nigerians to exhibit patience regarding the present power situation, assuring them of efforts to find a resolution.
Nigerians are urged to remain patient as the issue of inconsistent power supply is on the verge of being resolved. We are committed to tackling the fundamental causes of the electricity challenge. Having conducted thorough diagnostics, we have identified the root of the problem, and we are currently in the implementation phase. We recognize that in the past, only temporary solutions were applied, neglecting the underlying causes,” he explained.
In a statement released by his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, the minister also advocated for state governments to leverage the new Electricity Act to participate in providing electricity within their states.
He disclosed that the government has procured approximately 10 mobile power substations that can be deployed to locations experiencing challenges or disruptions due to faults in the substation.
“You can always call on me for intervention; I will stand by you, and I believe that as the states begin to perform and assume additional responsibilities, it reflects my performance as well.
Adelabu highlighted the example of Abia State, where Geometrics Power Limited has established a 188-megawatt power generating plant supplying electricity to about seven to eight local government areas in the state.
Earlier, the forum’s chairman, also the Commissioner of Power and Energy for Cross River State, Eka Williams, reaffirmed unwavering support for the federal government’s exceptional visions, ideas, and electricity reforms.
