The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has officially inaugurated a newly constituted board of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). During the inauguration at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima encouraged the new management to introduce innovative measures to enhance hajj operations in the country.
Shettima emphasized the significance of serving on the NAHCON board, considering that hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. He urged the board members to collaborate, bringing fresh perspectives to the commission’s operations. The Vice President conveyed that serving pilgrims effectively is not only an administrative duty but also a religious obligation with potential rewards in the hereafter.
Addressing the challenges they might face, Shettima urged the board to unite and devise robust solutions for the satisfaction of Nigerian pilgrims. He reminded them that their service is a tough assignment inherent in the nature of pilgrimage, emphasizing the dual aspect of rendering service to God and humanity.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Malam Jalal Arabi, assured that the new board members would work cohesively as a team to enhance and improve hajj operations.
