OFFICIAL REPORTS MORE THAN 17,000 NIGERIAN STUDENTS PURSUING EDUCATION IN THE UNITED STATES

The United States Mission in Nigeria has reported that there are currently more than 17,000 Nigerian students pursuing education in the country.

Shade Adebayo, an education specialist at EducationUSA, shared this information during a discussion with journalists in Yola, Adamawa State. She highlighted the substantial investment the United States is making in education, with over 50,000 students applying for US scholarships annually.

Adebayo clarified that the merit-based scholarships are granted to exceptional students who may lack opportunities for higher education.

In addition, Aishah Gambari, the press and media specialist at the US Embassy in Abuja, encouraged journalists to raise awareness about the various opportunities available for Nigerians in the United States. These opportunities include scholarships, exchanges, and training programs aimed at career development and progression.

Joseph Adah, the strategic content coordination specialist at the US mission in Nigeria, also urged journalists to leverage social media platforms to connect with a wider audience.
