MEDIA TRUST NAMES GWADABE DEPUTY EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
The Media Trust Group’s Board of Directors has assigned Maude Rabiu Gwadabe the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief for Daily Trust, along with chairmanship of its Editorial Board.
According to a statement released by the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the group, Ahmad Shekarau, Gwadabe will serve in both the print and digital domains of Daily Trust.
Gwadabe previously held the role of Head, Hausa Service at Media Trust Limited from January 2023, where he successfully led the team in significantly expanding the digital footprint of Aminiya Trust.
A former lecturer at Bayero University Kano, Gwadabe earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communication in 2019, following an M.A. in Political Communication from the University of Leeds, UK, as a British Chevening Scholar in 2013.
Commencing his career as a broadcast journalist at Freedom Radio Kano, he progressed to the position of Head of News and Current Affairs. Gwadabe also gained experience with the BBC World Service (Hausa) as a broadcast and multimedia journalist.
From 2019 to 2020, he served as the Nigeria Project Manager for the establishment of Radio Ndarason International in Maiduguri, a Kanuri language peacebuilding radio station for the Lake Chad region.
Additionally, Gwadabe held the role of pioneer General Manager for two radio stations in Kano: Nasara FM and Premier FM. He founded the Kano Focus online newspaper and Tarihi TV.
In his capacity as a media consultant and trainer, Gwadabe has collaborated with various international organizations such as iMedia, UNICEF, and DFID.
