Mrs. Odunayo Sanya, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to long-lasting projects. She mentioned that the foundation had already remodeled 180 PHCs in addition to the ongoing construction of 52 more. The foundation has invested N28.8 billion to ensure sustainable healthcare reaches grassroots communities.
Sanya emphasized the unique nature of the partnership with PSHAN, which specializes in areas like training healthcare workers. The partnership includes initiatives such as the PSHAN Adopt-a-Healthcare-Facility-Programme (ADHFP), which involves remodeling 12 PHCs, and the MTN What-Can-We Do-Together (MTN WCWDT), focusing on equipping and remodeling 40 PHCs across various states.
As part of the intervention for the 52 primary health care centers, the foundation has installed boreholes, provided equipment, consumables, medications, and alternative power supply.
Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, the Director of PSHAN, commended the partnership, stating that it aligns with Bill Gates’ vision that the private sector, through partnerships, can achieve more significant initiatives than working alone. He praised the MTN Foundation for its commendable work in the healthcare sector.
