As part of the 2Africa consortium, which includes Bayobab Group, center3, China Mobile International, Meta, Orange, Telecom Egypt, Vodafone Group, and WIOCC, the cable has landed in Lagos, Nigeria. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, is expected to officially announce the cable’s landing in Nigeria.

These landings in Nigeria and Ghana mark the third and fourth for Bayobab as part of a series of six landings across five countries. The other locations include Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, and three in West Africa.

Frédéric Schepens, CEO of Bayobab, expressed the significance of the 2Africa initiative in connecting Africa to the world and vice versa. The project aims to provide services that contribute to the growth of the African digital economy.

Through these landings, service providers in Ghana and Nigeria gain access to capacity in carrier-neutral data centers and open-access cable landing stations. This access is provided on a fair and equitable basis, promoting the development of a healthy internet ecosystem and improving internet accessibility for businesses across various sectors.
