The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change presents an exciting opportunity with its Summer Associate Internship Programme. This ten-week program, starting in June 2024, is designed for exceptional candidates from Anglophone West African countries (The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone) who are passionate about politics and eager to effect change by collaborating with governments.
About the Program:
This Internship Program offers a diverse experience, allowing interns to work with colleagues both locally and globally. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects within the Institute’s growing portfolio, gaining valuable experience in business development activities.
Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in various tasks, including:
- Conducting research, analysis, and producing written insights and deliverables for clients and country leadership.
- Supporting projects as the Institute advises political leaders on strategy, policy, and delivery, utilizing technology across all dimensions.
- Assisting in the delivery of impactful projects, ensuring efficient performance tracking and coordination when necessary.
- Learning and applying new and innovative approaches to supporting change and delivering impact.
- Contributing to the development of strategies, frameworks, and approaches.
- Assisting project teams in preparing reports, presentations, and other relevant documents.
Person Specification:
We welcome applications from undergraduate students in their second or third year of study. Ideal candidates for this programme should possess:
- A passion for politics and strong political acumen.
- A team-oriented work ethic, with a genuine motivation for colleagues’ performance, growth, and well-being.
- An insatiable curiosity for data and a keen interest in generating original insights through in-depth analysis.
- Experience as an entrepreneurial self-starter.
- Proven ability to conduct high-quality desk-based research.
- Comfort in performing challenging analysis and structured problem-solving.
- A proactive and hands-on attitude, with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and get the job done.
- Legal residency and the right to work in Sierra Leone (Freetown), with an expectation to cover any accommodation or boarding costs.
