“2024 IJESHA SOCIETY EDUCATION GRANT FOR UNDERGRADUATE INDIGENT STUDENTS”

The Isokan Ijesa initiative, under the umbrella of the Ijesa Society, is thrilled to announce its Annual Educational Grant for University Students in need.

The Educational Grant by the Ijesa Society serves as a ray of hope for university students hailing from Ijesa, offering substantial financial support to those grappling with economic difficulties. More than just a scholarship, it provides deserving students an opportunity to pursue their education without the burden of financial constraints. With an annual grant of N200,000.00 per student, the Ijesa Society is dedicated to championing the educational aspirations of indigent students and fostering academic excellence within the Ijesa community.

Key Features of the Ijesha Society Undergraduate Scholarship: This grant aims to recognize and support deserving students of Ijesa origin in their quest for higher education, providing a grant of N200,000.00 per student.

Eligibility Criteria for the Ijesha Society Undergraduate Scholarship: To be eligible for this esteemed grant, applicants must fulfill specific requirements to ensure that the aid reaches those who need it most:

  1. Indigeneity: Applicants must confirm their Ijesa heritage, with parents being indigenous to Ijesa.
  2. Financial Need: Demonstrating financial hardship is crucial. Applicants must provide evidence of their financial situation, supported by an attestation letter from the Chairman of their Local Government Area or the Oba of their town/village.
  3. Academic Standing: Applicants must be enrolled students at a Public University in Nigeria and not in their final year of study. A commendable academic record is vital, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50/5.00, verified by the institution’s authority.
  4. Documentation: A statement of result, signed by the registrar or an appropriate authority, is required to authenticate academic performance.

Application Documents Include:

  • Application Letter
  • Evidence of parent being an indigene of Ijesaland or a letter from the Oba in Ijesaland certifying the candidate’s origin.
  • Photocopies of WAEC/NECO/SSCE results and JAMB admission letter.
  • Photocopy of the candidate’s current University Identity card.
  • Letter from the Registrar/Dean of student affairs certifying the candidate’s student status.
  • Letter from the candidate’s current Head of Department, providing bio-data, academic profile, and CGPA for the last academic semester.
  • A recent passport photograph.

Applicants are required to follow these steps for a successful application:

  • Submit a typed application letter (not exceeding 500 words) addressed to “The Chairman, Education Committee, THE IJESA SOCIETY, Lagos.” Include personal details, course of study, year of study, town or village in Ijesaland, Local Government Area, and reasons for deserving the educational grant.
