2024 ECOWAS School of Internet Fellowship

Calling all West African stakeholders passionate about internet governance (IG)! The ECOWAS Commission, in collaboration with the West Africa Internet Governance Forum (WAIGF), is offering a unique fellowship program: the 7th West African School on Internet Governance (WASIG).

What is WASIG?

WASIG is a three-day intensive learning program designed to introduce participants to the world of internet governance, both globally and from a West African perspective. Through lectures, discussions, and virtual training, you’ll gain valuable knowledge and insights from experts in the field. The program culminates in the issuance of certificates to all those who successfully complete the training.

Who can apply?

The ECOWAS School of Internet Fellowship is open to a wide range of stakeholders from West Africa, with a particular focus on encouraging applications from women and youth. Here’s who can benefit most:

  • Key actors and decision-makers in internet governance or ICT policy processes.
  • Individuals who can contribute to IG activities within their institutions, countries, or the broader region/globally.

Program Structure:

WASIG is a blended learning program:

  • Online Phase (May 20 – June 20, 2024): Participate in virtual training sessions and discussions through a dedicated platform.
  • In-Person Session (July 7 – 10, 2024): Engage in fireside discussions with experts and network with fellow participants in Dakar, Senegal. This in-person component follows the WAIGF conference (July 11-12, 2024).

      • In-depth analysis of opportunities and challenges of emerging issues (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Digital economy, Human rights)
      • A digital policy practice
