2024/2025 KIT MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS FROM DEVELOPING COUNTRIES AT THE ROYAL TROPICAL INSTITUTE

The KIT Scholarship Fund aims to empower professionals to contribute to improving healthcare globally or in their respective countries. This scholarship, made possible by KIT alumni, foundations, and friends, is dedicated to supporting advancements in global health.

KIT Masters Scholarship Benefits:

  • The scholarship amounts to €18,500, serving as a contribution to the tuition fees for the master’s program, valid for up to 12 months.
  • All additional costs are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient.
  • The scholarship spans one academic year, commencing and concluding on the dates specified in the award letter.

Requirements for KIT Masters Scholarship: Applicants seeking a scholarship from the KIT Scholarship Fund must:

  • Possess a minimum of two to three years of relevant work experience. For most KIT courses, this typically involves a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in low- and middle-income countries, coupled with a Bachelor’s degree in medicine or another academic field related to healthcare (e.g., nursing, health sciences, social sciences with a healthcare focus).
  • Ideally demonstrate a commitment to public service, such as working in remote rural areas or for disadvantaged populations.
  • Align with the goals of the KIT Scholarship Fund and its donors. This necessitates the commitment to return to the candidate’s home country and apply acquired knowledge and skills to enhance the health situation.
  • Be a national of and reside in a low-income country at the time of application.
  • Hold academic admission to the KIT master’s program corresponding to the applied KIT Scholarship Fund scholarship. This requires meeting all academic and administrative prerequisites set by KIT.
  • Not be employed by specific entities, including multinational corporations, large national or commercial organizations, bilateral donor organizations, multilateral donor organizations, or international NGOs.
  • Work in a field where KIT studies can make a relevant contribution.
  • Be capable of introducing newly acquired skills and knowledge into their professional context.
  • Be available full-time for uninterrupted participation in the course or program and possess the physical and mental capability to engage fully in the program.
  • Secure additional financial means, alongside the partial scholarship from the KIT Scholarship Fund, to cover all associated costs. These financial means may come from employer support, another scholarship, personal savings, or support from external sources.

Additionally, candidates from select Arab countries are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from the Rabbani Foundation, with eligibility details available on their website.

Application Documents:

  • Admission letter to Master of Public Health and Health Equity.
  • Proof of financing for the remaining funding (approximately €18,200), which can include bank statements, letters of financial support from other scholarship providers, employers, or alternative financing sources. If using a different currency, provide an accurate conversion to Euro with the conversion date.
  • A motivation letter explaining why the applicant is seeking support from the KIT Scholarship Fund and outlining how acquired skills will benefit the public case.
  • A 500-700 word essay describing a public health problem encountered in the last two years, discussing its consequences for the community and the health system.

  • Only accepted applicants for the Master of Public Health and Health Equity can apply for this scholarship. This means you have to apply first to KIT to obtain academic admission.
  • In order to apply for this scholarship you need to have a proven source of co-funding /other funding. The selection of candidates will be made from applicants with proven funding to cover all costs involved for their studies (applicants should be able to cover the remaining costs of approx. 18.200 Euro. (For exact costs applicants should read the financial statement that they received with their conditional letter of admission).
  • Make sure you fulfill all requirements before starting the application procedure. If you do not fulfill all the requirements your application will unfortunately not be considered.
